About Chef Charlie
Charlie Anderson is a private and personal chef in Western North Carolina. Born and raised in Toledo, Ohio Chef Charlie observed the power of food to bring people together around a table from a young age. He made his first meat loaf at at six years old under the guidance of his mother, who was among his earliest culinary role models.
Charlie purchased his first smoker when he was 20 years old and began smoking meats in his backyard as a hobby. He began throwing parties in his backyard where his pulled pork and baby back ribs were the star of the show. He started to experiment with side dishes soon after which led him to other culinary pursuits. He often fantasized about opening a barbecue restaurant. Yet, he considered cooking to be a hobby and not his calling.
In February 2020, after an 11 year career in workforce development, Charlie was ready for a change. He left his job with State of North Carolina to spend more time with his family and find his next adventure. Charlie took the early months of the COVID-19 Pandemic to decide to return to college to pursue degrees in culinary arts and business. He now spends his time cooking for others and creating memorable culinary experiences by elevating classic dishes and combining the flavors of Southern Appalachia.
Charlie is a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enjoys hiking, live music and traveling as often as he can.
